| I earned my Master of Arts degree from the University
of Houston-Clear Lake in Clinical Psychology. My internships
were at the VA Hospital in Houston, TX in the Neuropsychology
and Trauma Recovery Programs. I have been working in the mental
health and rehabilitation industries since 1982 (resume).
I am licensed to practice independently in the state of Texas
as a Licensed Professional Counselor and offer therapy to individuals,
families and couples utilizing Cognitive/Behavioral Therapy
or CBT. I also strive for cultural awareness and sensitivity
in my practice and enjoy working with ages 10+. I truly enjoy
helping adolescents and their families/caregivers manage what
can be a difficult transition into adulthood. And I specialize
in helping people who self-injure learn that healthier coping
strategies can help them manage the intense emotions (e.g.,
anger, depression, guilt, shame) that currently stand in the
way of their happiness.
Get it in gear (i.e., your thinking) and become
a healthier, happier you by scheduling an appointment. |

Jennifer Carter, MA, LPC - Intern
I recently graduated from Hardin Simmons University in Abilene, TX with my MA in Family Psychology. During this program I worked at three different internship sites: The Regional Crime Victims Crisis Center, Just People, and the Christion Women's Job Corps. I am licensed by the state of Texas as a Licensed Professional Counselor Intern. While I enjoy working with a diverse group of people, I have a passion for working with clients who are survivors of rape or abuse. I believe that every person must learn to take responsibility for their actions, and yet that as interconnected individuals every person has an impact on the people in their lives. My goal is to empower individuals to first improve the quality of their own lives, and then to act as agents of change in the lives of others.
